The Ultiplex Project

The dream of a dedicated Ultiplex has long inspired the TFDA community, representing our independence from whimsical P&R departments and our arrival as a mature sport. For years, many of you have donated time and money to this endeavor, and we want you to know where your contributions have taken us.

What is TFDA's plan?

The TFDA Board of Directors held an open-invitation "town hall" meeting at the Durham East Regional Library on Saturday, April 10th. Attendees were presented with details on the current status of the Ultiplex project & the land that we're pursuing on Riley Drive in Durham. A productive question-and-answer/discussion proceeded the presentation. Attendees came away with a real sense of how far we've come with this project as well as the hurdles that still remain. For those others that are interested but were unable to attend, here is the electronic portion of the presentation that was given:

The following document provides an overview of the questions and answers that were shared among meeting attendees in the dialogue after the presentation:

Most Recent Developments

Jarrod Edens, a Civil Engineer with Milone & MacBroom, has been hired to help TFDA pursue an approved site plan for a piece of property on Riley Drive in Durham county. On April 8, an informational meeting was held at Chewning Middle School to update residents of the community surrounding the property with details on the proposed land usage. Here is a summary memo that was mailed to meeting attendees:

Although these are not yet finalized (still lacking lighting plan details and full analysis of the bathrooms), following are the plans that Jarrod submitted for review and which were accepted by the Durham County Planning Commission:

There is still much MUCH more to do, and we cannot do it without you. We need your input to make this dream a reality. Please do continue to stay engaged with any or all of our current board members, as the success of this project will undoubtedly require a community effort beyond the time & skill sets of the 7 board members. We are open to and in need of ideas and assistance from other TFDA members, so email us (board@tfda.org). And let's build an Ultiplex!
